Plagiarism - Final Update

... I hope

Since my earlier posts about plagiarism have achieved their purpose. which were

1) To have copied slides removed from someone else's presentation.
2) To alert various user groups.
3) To illustrate to the individual concerned the error of his ways and make a public example of him to others.

I have removed the two posts from the blog. I apologise to the various commentors for deleting their comments in the process, but I don't want to get caught up in any conversations about myself or other organisations when the original post was about the act itself and not the individuals concerned.

This decision is entirely my own and I have been put under no pressure to act in this way.

A final consideration is that I hope the individual concerned never repeats his behaviour. If he does have the sense to change his ways, I wouldn't want an old blog to act against him unfairly. If I do hear of a reoccurence, I'll be more than happy to highlight this particular incident again. I've retained the two blog posts with all of their comments and a copy of both presentations for this purpose, but everyone should have a chance to reform their behaviour.

I've also disabled comments on this posting to draw a line under this, as I tried before with my previous update on the subject. It would be easy to say I'm trying to stifle debate when one or two of the comments were negative about me, but happily the final comment was so positive about me I can claim it was about the embarassment of that
