Jun 15: Plummeting Stats
Through a combination of dragging my content out from under Google's nose and not having the Statcounter code implemented across the blog, things aren't looking so good ![]()

Hopefully both situations are resolved.
Just a bit more tidying up to do and then I can get back to the World Cup Oracle.

I'm sure you will quickly get back to (and surpass) the previous traffic levels.
Interestingly I just noticed 'The Oracle Sponge' and 'Pete-s random notes' listed on WordPress Blogs of the Day (at 87 and 89 respectively) following their evangelical conversions.

Compare this:
http://www.google-pagerank.net/?http://oracledoug.blogspot.com
to this:
http://www.google-pagerank.net/?http://oracledoug.com/serendipity/
This may explain why Google search is ignoring you *for now*.
That's one of the disadvantages of moving to a new host.
By the way, I like your default template "Serendipity Serif".
Ok, now I'll let you go back to your World Cup... Oops! I mean Oracle ![]()

I thought it was interesting to click on your links in your comments on sponge and what-all and get the "no longer on wordpress" blurb.
No hyperlinks? Cutting and pasting, what a pita! How Unclear On The Concept!

Now *that* could become addictive, if you're not careful
I always had fairly high page ranks and lots of visitors - primarily for the decode paper but I'm not too worried, honestly
It just illustrates how easy it is (and not surprising) to get lost temporarily.

Erm, I can't work that one out actually, because I only have it configured to moderate something if there's 7 links or something, so there must be another swicth I need to flick somewhere.

Google Page Rank? Pah!
"Hi Doug,
You're current rank in the World Cup 2006 APEX application is 23 out of 394."

And indeed, I was 4th fastest growing Wordpress blog sometime yesterday! - - it won't last though ![]()

Entering this comment as a normal user and supplying my email address. Hopefully it won't display

Mmmmm, it doesn't display email addresses in Firefox, but does in IE6. Weird.

Turns out it displays the email addresses when logged in as an administrator, but shouldn't to a normal user

I'm hoping that's the 'email visibility' issue sorted out for comments, but next one here can tell me if I'm wrong ![]()

Well, you can put links in your comments now (see above) but need to use BBCode. It's not ideal, I'd prefer to allow HTML links but it's all I'm prepared to implement for now.

And who might be responsible for that, I wonder ...

Doug, you might want to "hack" your old template on Blogger so that it automatically redirects visitors to your new blog. There is even way to redirect to a correct post but sometimes WP and Blogger have a bit different URL naming. Same would be with serpendity - link format is even more different. Workaround might be to redirect to search page with title as criteria - it should find the correct page.
I've done that to mine - works very well.
Oh... I just saw that you old blog is still in the hands of enemy...

Alex,
Nice tip - thanks. Maybe someone who moves with blog-jacking will be able to make use of it.
I will probably try something similar at doug.burns.tripod.com because I've lost all of my traffic from there too.
