May 1: 5-and-a-bit Years Old

While day-dreaming recently, it occurred to me that I've probably been blogging for more than 5 years now and when I just went to check ... sure enough, the 5th anniversary of my first post was on 10th February 2010. That's probably about as long-term commitment as I've ever managed! The nearest to a 5 year old post is probably this one.

Hi.

Well done. There aren't many people who survive that long. I think this year is my 10th anniversary for my website (not my blog). I started it some time in 2000, but the name has changed a few times.

Cheers

Thanks, Tim.

If I recall correctly, there will be quite a few 5th anniversaries on the horizon - there was quite the blog rush that year!

I guess that was the year that Tom started blogging and the rest of the Oracle world followed. :-)

I think Mark Rittman was the first by a few years. :-)

Cheers

:-)

I think Pete Finnegan was the other very early Oracle blogger.

Are you sure you didn't start earlier? Would have been sure you were "there" before...?!

My "first" blog entry started in December 2004...

(Ha, fun, my URL has a dangerous X in it and has been caught by your spam site detection)

See http://bit.ly/bKvNWF (the workaround - still has an X but not so obvious anymore)

I think the dates are right. Although I moved blog provider at least twice, I think the dates were preserved. As an old man, I use a system to remember dates these days. I check my cv and when I was working at that time and it reminds me ;-)

So I'm *pretty* sure I'm right ...

I did have a web presence I can track back as far as 2001, but not the blog.

And Pete was earlier. He commented on my post at that time :-)

For the avoidance of any doubt, all views expressed here are my own and not those of past or current employers, clients, friends, Oracle Corporation, my Mum or, indeed, Flatcat.
