Nov 13: The Money Shot
I tend to be on the receiving end of humorous flak at my current site about my Oracle ACE status, including jokes about people stroking the fleece and the like. It's just the Scottish sense of humour, I suppose
Anyway, I'd pledged to try to get a photo of myself with the two most attractive women I could find at the conference, stroking my black Oracle ACE fleece.First, the bad news. I'm simply too shy for that kind of thing and despite walking around with it in my bag all day yesterday, I didn't find the right opportunity. On top of that, there is every likelihood that I might need a spell in hospital if Mads saw a picture like that! (Well, maybe I'm exaggerating a little ...)
Now, the good news. All of the Oracle ACEs have new fleeces which make a somewhat more bold fashion statement than the under-stated black model! So, with the help of Els, the dutch courage of a few beers at OTN night and with the determination to deliver on a promise to my work-mates, at least in part, I give you the new Oracle ACE fleece!!!
Very nice, but I whisked it off very quickly after Els captured The Money Shot and I can't see myself wearing it around Edinburgh much . Not unless I'm a masochist. I think I'll start wearing it into work on Fridays though. That should clear up any doubts about my status!

What a magnificent garment.
I’m not sure if it’s the subtle and effective use of colour or the elegant understated logo that I find most arresting but you’ll certainly have made an impression.
It has of course the additional benefit of having the playing card symbol on the back which should help clear up any ambiguity about what the ‘A’ stands for. Which is good , don’t you think?
With this sartorial masterwork, your quiet modest nature and the fact that you come with kitchen furniture of a sturdy oak manufacture you must be having to fend off the ladies with a stick

At last an advantage of being a public sector bod. If I were to receive a gift of similar quality from a supplier such as Oracle I'd regrettably have to declare it and auction it off in case such a gift were to influence me in anyway! The only trouble might be finding people prepared to bid for it.

Oh, dear, I wouldn't want to give the impression I'm an ungrateful ******, but I don't think I'll be doing this!
Why dont you wear your Ace jacket once you get back to Edinburgh.
I'll probably wear it into work a few times though and I'm probably safe indoors at home, too.
I suppose, in retrospect, it is a useful device to track down ACEs in a crowd of 42,000, but it looks too much like a handy target for snipers to me

Hi Doug.
I like the jacket. I have no taste but I like it. My son refers to it as "the red thing with the card on it." At work, yes I wore it to work, they asked if Oracle named me "dealer of the year." Dealer as in gambling and cards not the other stuff.
If I go on a cruise, I will also take it with me then. If the boat sinks, it's better than a flare in the daytime.

Each to their own, of course. I suspect (although I know the dangers I'm about to expose myself to here) that there are also cultural differences at play here. Allowing for the fact that this is a sweeping generalisation, I sincerely doubt that I know of anyone in Scotland who would wear such a garment (note some of the similar comments above) but we *are* some of the grumpiest people on the face of the planet! LOL
I must confess, it looks much better from the front, but then that would have ruined the comedy.
As I ran a little short of clothes later in the week, I eventually wore the Oracle ACE 1.0 fleece and it's an altogether more sober and classy garment!
Anyway, it was nice to meet you properly and it always cheers me up when I meet people and find they're even nicer than I detected electronically. So, in the end, it's more important what you are like than what you wear
I *still* won't be wearing mine outside!
