Jul 16: Today's Links

Here are a few interesting blog postings I've been reading this week.

Jonathan Lewis on another Statspack example.

Nuno Souto on SQL Server - in three parts. What I particularly like about these postings is that the man has used both and is honest about their relative strengths and weaknesses, rather than sticking to the party line.

Similarly, Raj Thukral on MySQL and, despite his Oracle background I know that Raj is pretty positive about MySQL in general. (I almost called him a MySQL fan!)

Alex Gorbachev admires "Kurt, the Dude guy's" tool (so to speak).

Kevin Closson has so many interesting posts at the moment that I'll just point you to his blog again ;-)

(Now, which blog does this posting belong in, again? I've forgotten already ...)

when in doubt, post it in BOTH blogs, Doug!

:-)

Thanks for the link. I'm happy you appreciated the series for what it was: an attempt to throw some clarity at what is good and bad about each product and hopefully spur others to detail more from here.

Rather than the useless marketing obfuscation. I've always believed that the way to improve a product is to expose its weak points.

Others believe to obfuscate the issues and hide them for as long as possible is what marketing is all about.

Ah well, each to its own...

Jeez Doug, why not just go all the way and do a Log Buffer? ;-)

Cheers,
Dave.

Mmm, never thought about that, really.

There'll still be a lot left, I'm sure!

Disclaimer

For the avoidance of any doubt, all views expressed here are my own and not those of past or current employers, clients, friends, Oracle Corporation, my Mum or, indeed, Flatcat. If you want to sue someone, I suggest you pick on Tigger, but I hope you have a good lawyer. Frankly, I doubt any of the former agree with my views or would want to be associated with them in any way.
