A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away (well, on my other blog) I mentioned I have Psoriasis and that I probably wouldn't mention it again, but I reckon it's ok to pass on some good news that might help someone.
I'd been thinking about the effect of my diet (if I can call it a diet) on my skin and had mentioned it to Mads. One day she came back from the pharmacy with a tub of fish oil capsules. They're a particular brand that she'd read about in some magazine or other but I don't want to get into advertising. Anyway, I took them just to humour her and was quite knocked out when my skin cleared dramatically in a matter of 2-3 weeks. The patches are starting to disappear and, if you'll excuse the detail, they're not really flaking off any more.
First, I'm not a doctor.
Second, psoriasis is a tricky chronic skin condition with so many individual factors at play that it could have absolutely no benefit to most.
Third, I am always very sceptical about miracle cures but, what can I say, this has blown away all of the creams and ointments I've ever used and is up there with UV treatment, at least for me. Less chance of developing skin cancer in the process, too!
Fourth it could be something completely different that's causing my skin to clear up but, frankly, it's unlikely to kill you taking a little fish oil for a few weeks. If it doesn't work for you, fair enough.
If you have it though, you'll know why I'm so happy about it and wanted to pass the information on. Bizarrely, I seem to have cheered up a lot too, but that could just be because I can get away with wearing T-shirts again

He almost cured his, later in life, with massive doses of Vitamin A. Which is one of the main ingredients in fish oil!
In this day and age where it is difficult to find Vit.A supplements, I had completely forgotten that fish oil is a major source of the stuff. Thanks for reiminding me, will definitely give it a try!
Then, on top of that, I think the other factors govern when it will show up and how severely. Mine has been pretty bad this year or so and I do have a shocking diet. I thought of you as I was writing the post, but assumed you had a much higher intake of natural fish oil than I do! (i.e. none)
Who knows how it will work for anyone else and I'm a natural sceptic about these things, but I'm stunned and happy
Nice that its fine now and not even a very tough treatment, I guess.
Sidhu
good on ya, ys bloody scot.
The weird thing about all of this is that I remember my grandmother used to take a spoonful of cod liver oil each day. I used to think it was just a crazy old lady's ways, but now I wonder.
Of course, it might help more to give up smoking
