I'm not sure they picked the right guys for the UK section in the middle (at about 18 minutes) because, as I recall, no-one I knew in the industry had much time for their games but I suppose they were a very successful business. (i.e. There were much more suitable pioneers that they could have covered.) Still, I mustn't carp because there are quite a few fun memories in there.
Now I have a confession to make. I had no idea that the inventor of Tetris was Russian. Alex Gorbachev might not be impressed!
Thanks to Koert for that one.

Thanks Koert & Doug for this link (always fun)
I didn't know that "pong" was invented by Atari. I still have a Philips Pong console on the atic that needs a little repair regarding its COAX connection. I guess it's time to enjoy it again, before there aren't any apparatus (TV's) left to play it on, because the lack the connection.
Though I ain't as lucky as you guy's regarding the WII thingy, maybe I should play pong once more with my 5 year old daughter
Man, get the Wii! 5 year old daughter? Sure, play some Pong, because it will always be fun. However ... imagine being a slightly-old guy having big fun playing silly computer games with your daughter and both of you laughing your *rse off.
Koert and I are old-school game guys and the Wii brings back some of those memories, but with funny cartoon graphics to keep the others happy. Motion controllers were the stuff of our dreams!
Do it! You know it makes sense
11g? Get a Wii!
(and it even rhymes ...)
The selling part (at home) is.....
You lucky .......
It basically went like this :
1. early adopter buys Wii (me)
2. collegue DBA drops in - plays 5min with Wii ... buys Wii next day
3. early adopter + collegue DBA + 2 other DBA's get together to play Wii tennis with 4 controls
4. the 2 other DBA's buy - euh - order Wii and have to wait 3more months for Wii
5. fifth DBA wants to know what fuzz is about ... plays 5min Wii boxing ... buys Wii next day ...
7. Doug plays Wii Tennis and (particularly) Boxing.
8. Doug blogs about Wii.
9. Wii becomes the must-have for Oracle DBAs (and their families)
Where will it end?
12. Wii support for Pong on Apex is released during launch of Oracle 11.2
14. EM / Gridcontrol / DBconsole/ IASconsole will start using Wiimote and Nunchuk
15. DBA needs to create Mii character in order to operate database
16. Wiimote is able to store complete 12gii database
Ahh, at last Wii*Plus
And I thought we wanted progress...
Now you introduced the pinging factor again while just be able to play pong
...this way Larry will never get to the full 3D graphics...
Hey there is Wii Tetris as well.
Right... I'm that slow...
