I was intrigued by an unsolicited email I received from a Technical Recruiter at Google this week. I won't share the email itself, but the job description is public. It was flattering for a few minutes and who wouldn't want to work with the particular infrastructure challenges that Google face? However, my spider-sense was bothering me, particularly as the job description wasn't a great match for my skills, so I thought I'd do a little online research. Why not try a Google Search?

It looks to me like Google are expanding so rapidly that they're trawling around for anyone who might be even remotely close to what they're looking for and then putting them through what, from my perspective, looks like a slightly bizarre interview process.
I think I'll probably stick to what I'm good at, probably earning more and closer to home. Stick 'Google' on it and it seems instantly attractive, but I'm not so sure.
